SSI Sarasota Scientific Instruments, Inc SarasotaScience.org will be supporting providing free labs for Teachers and Partnerships from our Science lending Library.

If you or others you know are involved in STEM or CTEF, please feel free to request labs free from Sarasotascience.org

We are particularly looking to promote the Science aspect, and 'Hands on Science'.  We can have students gain interest in Science and Technology by getting them 'doing science', and thereby seeing the exploration of the world as being fun and yet to be discovered, promoting them to seek careers in technology, hopefully also spurred on by opportunity brought to them by CTEF to experience the workplace.

How are we doing on 'Getting Labs in thier hands'?

The Science Lending Library concept was designed to get Labs in the hands of students.  We have built an organization to make available for request, Labs (Equipment and worksheets) so that students can 'do hands on science'.

How are we doing on 'Getting Labs in their hands'?

We have so far been able to 1. Afford to purchase all requested Labs and 2. Deliver all requested Labs.
However we have not been able to generate an adequate amount of requests for the resources we put into the operation.  Even though we have SarasotaScience.org from which requests can easily be made, and we have done extensive 'marketing' mainly through emails, we have not had a good response.

I feel we are at a crossroads on the lending library concept and it's effectiveness given the climate that Science Teachers are working with today in the schools.

What we have put together so far would work if we simply had more adequate response from the teachers requesting labs. Everybody I speak to indicates they are bewildered that we are not inundated with requests and overrun with delivering labs.

I will be directing people to this blog, and ask that they please provide us with some suggestions as to how we can make this work, keeping in mind our goal of getting labs in the hands of students.
